Walking Guides – Rother Walking Guides

German Rother is also translated into English. Small and handy, but again, for Greece it is only Crete that is covered (one for east, one for west): More in the Book Shop.

Walking Guides – Cicerone Guides

Some like these guides. They have very few for Greece and to me they look like something for “experts”. Not for me then, I am just a happy amateur: Crete – The White Mountains Western Crete – Walking in the Kissamos See more in the Book Shop.

Walking Guides – Marengo Publications

These no-nonsense booklets written by Lance Chilton are among the best I have used (I have not used them all though). Very efficiently they concentrate on just very detailed walk descriptions and nothing else. No BS. His maps are also great at showing exactly what you need to see: More info in the Book Shop.

“Link Exchange”

These pages are FREE, and will always be. But what this site is NOT is a free advertising board for COMMERCIAL SITES. I get tons of requests from the most idiotic and unrelated sites. Also from some very demanding and particularly unsympathetic individuals. As there is no way I will spend any more time at … Continue reading »

The History of islandwalking.com

These pages started off in 1997, but their early history is lost in the mists of the early internet. However, from 1999 things started to take form, and archived snapshots also start to appear. The earliest recorded shape of things can be viewed at http://web.archive.org/web/19990203083828/http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/1744/. Not fully functional of course, but you get the idea.
