After this summer I doubt there will be much more progress, as the game I have played and loved will now be replaced by the dreadful “Ingress Prime”. 🙁
Summer is over

Black Metal Beer
Not many metal bands have their own beer. This is Jotunblod from veteran Norwegian Black/Viking Metal band Enslaved.
Magic in Monolithos
But Monolithos is again the jewel in the crown. The Thomas Hotel provided another perfect stay, and the wonderful owner provided all necessary transport. Love the breakfast, love the view. You will of course have to eat at the Old Monolithos Taverna, this is an old classic, and Christos Corner is also good, but first price currently goes to the newly opened Limeri up on the main road. Feels modern and elegant even if it is built in a traditional way and having a traditional menu. It is run by the cousin of the hotel owner, BTW. He is a wonderful host and the food is just great. Slightly higher prices than elsewhere, but worth it in my opinion.
Very Cozy Apolakia
Thanks to the helpful people at the Prasonisi Club I got a 20 minute lift up the coast to Apolokia. It could be argued that Apolakia is even cozier than Katavia. The Amalia hotel (and taverna) is wonderful, and the people so friendly. I never tried any other eateries in this village than the Amalia, there was no need… Best stuffed tomatoes EVER!
Bus to Katavia
2.5 hours by bus might not sound tempting, and it isn’t, BUT it will get you to the southernmost village of Rhodes. There is a hotel in town, the very helpful Prasonisi Club, as well as a couple of good tavernas. E.g the “Penelope” served one of the best Moussakas I have ever had. Seemingly the same recipe as Yannis Home Cooking in Rhodes Old Town.
Home Base
This year I made quite an experiment tour of Rhodes, at least from my point of view. Imagine travelling around the entire island WITHOUT ever driving a car… Could something like that even be possible in this day and age??? More of this entire trip later, for now a post just to acknowledge that every adventurous explorer needs a solid home base. 😉 And as usual I find that in “my” little Camelot in Rhodes Town.
New Rhodes Walks
No less than 7 new walks (15-21) has been added to the Rhodes page!
