A new edition of Noel Rochford’s Landscapes of Corfu.
I have had quite a bit of fun on the island using earlier editions, see here.
Walking the Greek Islands |
A new edition of Noel Rochford’s Landscapes of Corfu.
I have had quite a bit of fun on the island using earlier editions, see here.
This is not a new book, it is a first edition from 2010, still it has never been mentioned on this blog. I have been resenting advocating travel to the occupied part of Cyprus and I have read that at least in the past you could be refused entry into Greece if you had a stamp from North Cyprus in your passport. For members of Schengen this cannot be a problem, and generally I would think Greece has bigger problems these days than preventing tourists from visiting their country. Mind: I have never been in North Cyprus myself and hence has not used this book, but it is written by two of Sunflower’s most experienced writers, Brian and Eileen Anderson, and this is a recommendation in itself.
Around Nice/4th ed NEW Feb (Walk and Eat)
Sunflower also have their “Walk & Eat” series, and this is an update of their Nice book. And Nice is very good indeed for both walking and eating.
Cyprus/6th ed NEW May (Landscapes)
A brand new edition of Sunflower’s Cyprus guide.
Sorrento, Amalfi, Capri: Car Tours and Walks (Landscapes)
I have the two previous editions of the book, and it is/was a mixed bag. The book turned out to be wonderful for walks based in Amalfi, ok for walks on Capri, but bad for walks based in Positano and especially Sorrento. And by bad I do not mean there was a lack of walks, just the walk descriptions turned out to be horrible and out-dated. Hope the new edition is better, it should be.
Sicily/4th ed NEW May (Landscapes)
Another update from Sunflower.
Fuerteventura/5th ed NEW (Landscapes)
Sunflower has updated their Fuerteventura guide. I still only have the 1st edition from 1989 (see below). This was in fact the first Sunflower guide I bought in my life. It was just a coincidence, I had never even heard of Sunflower Books at the time, but it was recommended to me. This was also my first trip to a Canary Island. It is safe to say that buying that book had its consequences (so beware…).
Discovery Walking Guides has a 3rd edition of Walk! La Gomera by Charles Davis. The Discovery guides I have used are very good, and Charles Davis is a particularly good writer.
New edition for awesome Tenerife.
Corsica: The 75 finest coastal and mountain walks – Rother Walking Guide – with GPS tracks
The 3rd edition of Rother’s Corsica guide is available. I have not used this one myself, but it looks interesting enough to check out.
