As I have previously announced elsewhere, Islandwalking.com looks forward to another active walking year with many new interesting locations.

And be sure, we will be here throughout this year and in many (hopefully!) years to come. The Islandwalking.com domain has been renewed for another five years, and hosting will continue on bluehost for another three years.

But what are the interesting new locations for 2010? Time to lift the veil. Surprising enough, Greece will not be in focus this year! Instead I have finally decided to investigate some coastal areas in and close to the Mediterranean. For this year I plan to visit the Algarve (Lagos), Nice (with the eastern Provence) and Barcelona (with Costa Brava). Of course I cannot leave Greece all alone so there will be at least one Greek island also in 2010. I am missing quite a few islands in the Ionian, and time has come for Kefalonia.

These pages started off in 1997, but their early history is lost in the mists of the early internet. However, from 1999 things started to take form, and archived snapshots also start to appear. The earliest recorded shape of things can be viewed at http://web.archive.org/web/19990203083828/http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/1744/. Not fully functional of course, but you get the idea.

As previously announced, the old bulletin board can now be considered outdated. News from Islandwalking.com will from now on take a more modern form, as in this weblog.
